On July Fourth, 1776, the Second Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence. Drafted by Thomas Jefferson and signed by 56 delegates, this document informed King George III of the colonies' grievances their decision to become independent. To make it a bit easier for all concerned, I have written a short poem to help understand this Declaration, and it runs thus:
